Install Windows Vista
Before you start the windows installation process, we advise that you must check minimum hardware requirements to run Windows. Make sure that your hardware is compatible with Vista. If you don’t have Windows Vista drivers for all your devices, you can download all the required drives from the hardware vendor website and save them on a device before you initiate the process.
Installation Process
STEP1. In order to boot from the DVD you need to change the boot sequence. Look for the boot sequence under your BIOS setup and make sure that the first boot device is configured to CD-ROM/DVD-ROM.
STEP2. Insert Windows Vista DVD in to DVD-ROM and start your machine. Windows Vista will start to boot up and you will see the progress bar.
STEP3. On the next screen you’ll need to setup your language, time and currency format, keyboard or input method. Choose your required settings and click next to continue.
STEP4. The next screen enables you to install or repair Windows Vista. As you are performing a fresh installation you need to click on "install now".
STEP5. Enter the product key that came with your Windows Vista.
STEP6. Click "I accept the license terms" and press next.
STEP7. Pick the type of installation you wish to do. You will notice that upgrade option is disabled as you have booted from the DVD-R. Therefore the only left option is Custom Advanced which basically loads a clean copy of Windows from scratch.
STEP8. Choose the location where you would like to install Windows Vista.
STEP9. Windows initiates the installation process and starts copying all the necessary files to your hard disk. It will go through numerous stages of the setup and will restart your machine several times. When your PC reboots it will try to boot from CD as it’s the first boot device. Do not press any key during the boot prompt so Windows Vista will continue with the installation by booting from your hard drive.
STEP10. After installation, copy process is complete you are presented with the Setup Windows dialogue box. At this point of time you need to choose a user name, password and a picture for your Vista account. The account you create here is the Administrator account which is the main account for your Windows Vista that has all the privileges. Click next continues.
STEP11. Now you are prompt to set up your computer name and desktop background. Click next to continue.
STEP12. Choose whether your want to Help protect Windows automatically. Select "Use recommended settings" to continue.
STEP13. Recheck your time and date settings. Select your time zone, correct the date and time and click next to continue.
STEP14. Next screen offers you to select your computers default location. You can choose between home, work, and public location. Choose as par your need. You will finally see a "Thank you" screen which indicates the end of the interactive installation process. But still there are few things to do. Click next to continue.
STEP15. Windows now monitor the performance of your system. You will notice a status bar at bottom which displays the progress. Once the process is complete you will be offered with the logon screen.
STEP16. Finally you are ready to log on. Just type your password and press enter or click on the arrow to logon to Windows Vista for the very first time.
