Clean VS Upgrade Installation

Clean Install:  A method of Windows installation that puts the operating system into a new folder and uses its default settings the first time the Windows is loaded. In order to perform a clean installation of an operating system, the hard drive must be formatted and completely erased. To do a clean installation of an application, first take away the older version.

Upgrade Install: An upgrade installation is one in which a Windows is installed over an earlier installation of a previous edition of operating system. If you want to install new Windows of the operating system over the existing operating system, you should always go for the upgrade installation. In this type of installation, all the existing applications and settings remain intact and a user can successfully execute the programs without reinstalling them on the machine.

You can upgrade almost all client computers running earlier editions of operating system to new Windows However, you must do the following:

• Make sure that the system hardware meets the minimum Windows hardware requirements.

• Check the Windows Catalog or test the computer for hardware compatibility using the Windows Compatibility tool. Using compatible hardware prevents problems when you start the upgrade on a large number of host computers.
