Mostly all the hardware works properly with all computers. However, many are incompatible with other hardware that is already installed in your computer. This might result in hardware issues.

When solving computer hardware problems, you must start with the simplest and the obvious solution. Here is a list of few things that you should check in your computer before starting the troubleshooting process:

Check the Power Cable

You must ensure that your PC is getting power and that the problem isn't because of bad power cable.

  • The wire is tightly plugged into the back of the CPU.
  • The CPU is connected to the power source and the power bar is turned ON.
  • If all the above things are correct then try a different power cord.

Check the monitor

Make sure that the monitor working properly. You expect to see something on the monitor when you restart your system. If you don't see anything, then there may be a chance that your monitor is not working properly.

  • Make sure that the power cable is tightly plugged in to the back of the monitor.
  • Make sure that the monitor power cable is plugged into a power source and the power bar is turned ON.
  • Check if the monitor turned on.
  • Make sure that the monitor video cable is tightly plugged into the CPU.

Visually check the power supply

A computer may start with a failing power supply but bad power supply can cause the processor to overheat and finally stop working.
  • Make sure that the CPU fan is working and starts as soon as you switch ON the Computer.
  • Does the fan feel hot when you touch it?
  • Make sure that the lights are turned on when you press the PC power button.

Most of the people think that checking these simple things is a waste of time and may skip the above checklist. Take the time and check these easy things because it will save a lot of time as well as money.
